3v1 Possession - Creating an Angle of Support for 1st Attacker

Organization: 4 players - 3 attackers & 1 defender; 10x10 yard area with 2 yard "safe zone" surrounding 2 sides of the area

Instructions: The 3 attackers will combine with each other to keep possession from the defender. If the 1st attacker (w/ ball) cannot find a passing option, they will keep possession of the ball and get into safe zone to buy time in order to find a pasing option. Game is continued. Rotate defenders every 1min.

***Restrictions: Players will begin with a 2 touch minimum, then activity will be played with players using a minimum of 3 touches***

Coaching Points: 1. Support players (2nd attackers) must be in a passing lane in order to receive ball; 2. Recognition/Patience of 1st attacker to hold ball at feet; 3. Vision/Awareness/Geting head up; 4. Decision-making

**Get pool foam pole** - emphasizes the passing lane at angle to the 2nd attackers (support players). If DEF is within the foam pole, they are interfering in the passing lane. Therefore, 1st attacker must find a new lane (happens by support player changing positions and finding the correct angle & 1st attacker being patient, holding the ball by dribbling to create open space). To players: "If we are looking to combine (wall pass, double pass, overlap) with our teammates to get behind the defense (penetration), we MUST have that support and it must be at angle (cannot pass through opponent). If no options are available, then 1st attack must SEE this (awareness) and hold the ball to find new options. In this activity, players can use the save zone to keep the ball away from defender and create space for themself. At same time, 2nd attackers must continue move to new space in order to support 1st attacker".

Goal at the end of the activity is to improve the movement off the ball so that 1. passing accuracy/pace has better chance of being better, 2. movement is improving (body "side on") 3. decision-making of when to pass v. when to hold pass

Combination play

Movement Off the Ball - Angle of Support

Accuracy/Pace of Passing

Recognition/Patience to hold Ball

*Same idea as last activity; now expanded with more free movement

3v1 Simeltaneously - Finding Angle of Support

Organization: 3 games of 3v1; 20x20 yard area; 4 pugg goals

1v1 + Magic Players w/ Finesse Finishing

Organization: 11 players - 4v4 with 3 magic players; 4 pugg goals; four 12x12 fields area w/ 5x5 yard area in middle of fields

Instructions:

Coaching Points: 1.

Continue to work on movement off the ball to give support at angle. Passing accuracy/pace. Finesse finishing. First touch. Now players are put into 1v1 situations and are asked to combine to beat DEF and score with finesse finishing from distance. Players move off the ball or else DEF will be able to easily stay with them and steal the ball. Minimum 2 movements will be demanded to get open. Combination with CM/RM/LM should be used (double pass, wall pass)

Paint a Picutre: Blue team scoring in south goals. You got 2 defenders, CM/DCM in middle, wide players, and two possible deep targets. Defenders should look wide to find outside mids first, or look to find CM --- MIDS must receive passes side on to attack intended space; look to change point of attacker or find CF; remain patient and hold ball at feet until options open up, dont force pass --- FOW must be good receiving balls at feet with back to goal and combining with MIDS; look to beat DEF 1v1 and finesse finish; never standing still/next to DEF
