Organization:

1. 40 x 30 set up as shown

2. 8 players set up as shown

3. 1 ball (Additional around the outside)

Instructions:

1. Number each player 1 to however many you have in the session. In the diagram above there are 8 players numbered 1-8

2. The game is to pass to each player following the sequence of number. For example 1 passes to 2, 2 passes to 3, 3 passes to 4, etc.

Coaching Points:

1. Getting into line with the ball

2. Assess the situation as ball travels

3. Select appropriate surface

4. Directions of touch to enable next action

Progressions:

1. P – Add extra ball(s)

2. R – Players have to pass the ball using hands

Organization:

1.10 x 10 yard area set up as shown

2.6 players set up as shown

3.1 ball (Additional around the outside)

Instructions:

1.First player plays a driven pass to 2nd player and follows the pass

2.Player 2 then plays a push pass back to the 1st player and then moves towards player 3

3.After receiving from player 2, Player 1 then plays a driven pass to Player 3 and then moves to 2nd cone

4.Player 3 plays a push pass to player 2 then moves towards player 4

5.Player 2 drives the ball to Player 4 then moves towards the 3rd cone

6.Player 4 push passes to 3 and joins the back of the start line. Player 3 drives the ball to the start

Coaching Points:

1.Angle of approach – Specific technique being coached

2.Head up to observe your target

3.Supporting foot

4.Contact with the ball

5.Contact with the foot

6.Body weight

Progressions:

P – One touch only

P – Must use weaker foot

R – Slow tempo down (take minimum of two touches)

Organization:

2.6 players (4 Attackers, 2 Defender) set up as shown

Instructions:

1.4 v2 keep away within the area

2.Attacking team must keep possession within the area

3.For every 10 passes the attacking team gets 1 point. Attacking team starts with a 5 point buffer

4.If the defender manages to intercept or force play out of the area, a point is taken away

5.Attacking Team must try to acquire as many points in a 2 minute period

6.After 2 minutes defender is switched over and play starts again.

7.Restarts are started by the attacking team and start from 0 passes. First pass is always free

Progressions:

P – two touch/one touch

P – make area smaller (8 x 8 yard area)

R – Passive defending (defender must force the ball out of play only)

R – Make area larger (20 x 20 yard area)

Conditioned Games

Organization:

1.40 x 30 yard area set up as shown

2.12 players (2 teams of 5, 2 Goalkeepers) set up as shown

3.6 balls

Instructions:

1.Players are divided into 2 teams 5 v 5 + GK’s and combine to score goals

2. Players must complete 5 passes before taking a shot on goal

3. Both teams are set up in a 1-3-2 (GK, 3 defenders, 2 forwards)

4. Goal kicks, corner kicks and throw-ins when the ball goes out

Coaching Points:

1. Angle of approach

2. Prepare the ball in the direction you wish to play to next

3. Use the nearest surface of the nearest foot to play quickly

4. Look around, see pressure before receving the ball

Progressions:

P – Open play

P – 2 touch max.
