Attacking Pattern # 1

transition image

Playing out-of-the back (Direct Instruction)

The two CBs start the sequence with one playing to the other. The AM on the side where the ball is played checks off the cone to recieve the ball from the CB. The # 6 shows under the ball and recieves it from the AM. The # 6 then looks to switch the point of attack by playing a 2-player combination with the opposite AM. As that develops, the #11 looks to show inside to recieve the ball from the # 6 with the FB pushing forward down the flank. The # 11 turns out and plays the # 3 into space for a cross into the box for the CF, AM & # 7 to finish. The players will repeat the pattern twice from the same side, then go out the opposite way.

Jon will watch the runs being made in the box before the cross is played in.

Attacking Pattern # 2

transition image

Playing out-of-the Back

The CBs start the pattern by playing to one another, as the CB takes his first-touch forward, the # 6 opens up on a counter-movement to recieve the ball. As the # 6 recieves the ball, the # 10 drops to recieve the ball in space with the # 11 coming inside. The # 10 plays the # 11 who then looks to combine with the # 9 in a central position. The # 9 now plays the ball wide to the # 3 in space ready to cross into the box for the # 9, #10, # 8 and # 7 making runs.
