How to shoot with power. Striking through the ball.
SAQ (10 minutes) prior to warm up
Organization:
-2 players, 1 ball.
-Open space.
Instructions:
-One partner stands with their foot on the ball.
-Second partner stands about 5yds away from partner.
-Second partner runs and shadows striking the ball. (Coach can walk around and give individual feedback).
-Players switch roles after 30 seconds.
Coaching Points:
1. Ankle locked.
2. Toe pointed down.
3. Angle of approach.
4. Strike center, off center of the ball.
Progressions:
-Pass back and forth between partners.
Organization:
-Groups of three.
-20x10yd grids.
-1 player on each end and 1 player in the middle (see above).
Instructions:
-Player in the middle starts with the ball.
-Passes to player A who then takes one touch and shoots on player B.
-Player B then passes to player C who takes one touch and shoots on player B.
-Each player gets 3 shots, then rotate positions.
Coaching Points:
1. Correct technique.
2. Chest and knee over the ball.
3. Follow through, land on kicking foot.
4. Aim low and far corner.
Progressions:
-Competition: Player who wins continues to shoot, other 2 players switch places.
-Must dribble around cone, then shoot. Try to get players not to hit a dead ball.
Organization:
-40x40yd grid.
-Teams of 4.
-Play to PUGG goals.
Instructions:
-No restrictions, free play.
Coaching Points:
1. Look to get a shot on target.
