In a 7x7-10x10 space. Have each numbers on each side BETWEEN the cones. Players on opposite sides will work at same time. For a little more fun have each kid do they're favorite finish (header, volley, etc) at the end of the run. Do 3 minutes on each one each way (total 6 minutes each progression).

1) Red Cones. Check away then go to near cone round center cone. Make sure they end at a diagnol cone (quarter). This is a "banana Run". Do both ways

2) Blue Cones. Jog in at angle then check away (back pedaling out; same as a reverse banana). This is called a "fade away." Do both ways

3) Yellow Cones. check in around cone and then back out for the header finish. This the "check and reverse run". Do both way (around to the right of cone then to the left of cone.)

4) Green Cones. Have all 4 work at the same time and do one of the runs. Idea is to identify the best run to find the most space. Force them to think at this one.

COACHING POINTS: After they get done, discuss when to use each of these runs. 1) getting into the near post from far post. 2) check from far post to mid goal then back out to open space at far post.

3) When we ran to deep (inside GK box or on goal line) coming out to top of 6 or pk spot to have space away from the GK's hands.

Touch/Service

Setup: 2-3 players out wide (on one side). Rest put inside the D on the box.

Activity: Player out wide takes touch down line and serves into box. 3 players in the D make a run into the box. Do 10 minutes each side. For flow have 2 wingers to rotate.

COACHING POINTS: Types of runs into the box, timing of runs, proper foot to finish with, proper shoot selection (i.e. no outside of far foot), Types of services into box (low bent to near post, driven to pk spot, chip to far post), some early crosses and some from touch line.

Come and get it

Setup: Have all players start on the endline. Winger outside of 18. All by goal or inside 18. All players run to the top of the D and then make runs into the box. the winger runs to cone, then coach plays a ball in for the winger to service into the box. DO 10 MINS on each side. For flow have 2 wingers rotate.

PROGRESSION: Add 1 or 2 defends. For everytime you add a defender do 10 mins on each side.

Now Defender starts with a ball on the endline between 18 and touchline. Plays ball into winger who can 1) drible defender serve from outside OR 2) cut the ball inside to either serve it or shoot. If player cuts inside they are live and it should be 5 vs 3 in the box. There should be 3 runners for offense and 2 defenders.

DO 10-15 MINS on each side. For flow have 2 defenders and 2 wingers to alternate.

COACHING POINTS: Let them play and create their own identities, but all the ones before help them create the best chance to score. Also, speak with wingers on when to cut in and when to go line and when to serve it early.
