FUNCTION LESS THAN 1/2 PITCH
A+E fbks, C+G wmf, B+F strikers, D def, S server
1 - S starting point
- S plays ball to A (quality of pass - into feet)
- A opens his body to receive the pass and when A receives the ball he looks to go forward
- (C Trigger movement) C checks his run to receive the ball, body shape of C (opens his body and receives the ball on an angle,he moves forward to cross into coned area)
- C crosses into the coned area (inbetween 6 yard and 18 yard box, danger area for the GK), near post, penalty spot, far post areas (C cross is determined by knowing where and how to cross) with A looking to get into the coned area to finish
2 - A plays ball to B safeside (Trigger movement of B) B checks from passive def and looks to receive pass, when A is comfortable on the ball and just before A connects with the ball
- B plays ball to C (quality of pass from B,infront of C or to feet) then B spins looking to get into the box(Trigger movement of C is when B connects with the ball,C is behind the line of the ball and then makes his run)
- C moves forward if ball played infront of him and then 1st time crosses into B,or if ball was into feet then C 1st touch is out infront of him with right foot(body shape),travels down the line and crosses into B
- B (trigger movement) as C connects with the ball to cross, B starts his run(movement away from passive D) which is behind the line of the ball as C connects, this enabling B to run onto the ball from the cross rather than a standing position(easy to mark)
- B timing of run, body shape and quality of shot(technique-side foot, volley, head) is determined by C type of cross and area(driven near post, floated into GK danger area, between 6 yard and penalty spot)

PHASE 3/4 PITCH 8V8 3-3-2 Attacking team, 3-3-1 with GK def team
DEF TEAM NOW ACTIVE, CONDITION FOR DEF TEAM IS TO RUN THE BALL THROUGH THE WIDE CONES
MOVEMENTS AND PLAY INTO WMF SAME AS THE FUNCTION,PROGRESS THE MOVEMENTS:
GRADUALLY PROVIDE OPPOSITION TO SOLVE PROBLEMS
1- H starting point (balls by H),play always starts from H when ball goes dead
- H plays ball to A, D checks his run from active def
- ( Ask C what if? ball could not be played into D what movement could he do to effect A) C movement is diagonal into c/mid area taking his marker with him (Trigger movement of C is when A is comfortable on the ball), (communication from C is "inside")
- A overlaps C (Trigger movement of A to overlap is when C shouts "inside") A dribbles to go forward into the space from C movement
- A crosses 1st time with right foot into box, coned areas (Trigger movement of B+F is behind the line of the ball before A crosses, so B+F movement is when A connects with the ball to cross) B+F arch their runs or crossover to create space. Bring in other defs now adding realism to the game
- D looks to support B+F (D edge of 18 yard box) if the ball is played behind B+F (Trigger movement of D is same as B+F)
- Other wideman G looks to support B+F as a 3rd striker (taking up the back post position for deep crosses) (Trigger movement of G is when A connects with the ball)
- A quality of cross in the coned areas (3 areas to aim for, near post, pen spot area and far post) is important
- Attackers timing of their runs, areas in the box are important, body shape and technique of their finish (side foot, volley, head) will determine the end product
- Reaction from supporting players around the box to finish (D+G)

SSG 8V8 WITH 3-3-2 BOTH TEAMS WITH GK(9V9) 3/4 PITCH
1 - Condition on the defending team is after 5 passes they must have a shot (this giving the attacking team more chances to have the ball)
2 - Attacking team looking to use aspects of the function and phase movements and using them in the game
- Condition for attacking team is to for the ball to be crossed before they can have a shot
- If GK rolls the ball out to defenders, def distance to be realistic to a normal game (full backs push up outside 18 yard box)
- When coaching a specific area of the pitch (ie WMF crossing) you need to effect the whole team, full backs push up to cover WMF,S, c/backs push up to cover c/mid, GK pushes up to outside his 18 yard box, this closes the space up from attack to midfield
- Focus on realism of all your team, c/mid provides cover on the edge of 18 yard box when crossing this giving an extra option if the ball gets pulled back, but doesnt go into the box, this ensures cover if def team breaks
3 - If RBK overlaps WMF the c/bk and other left back looks to shuffle over to cover the overlapping r/bk
- If options are not available going forward, then look to keep the ball and switch play, this creating space
4 - GK communicates to full backs and c/backs to push up (Trigger movement for full back, c/bk, GK, is when WMF connects with the ball to cross)
- Game to be realistic and coach what you see in the game, WHEN, WHERE, HOW, WHO, WHAT IF?, but allow the game to flow aswell
KEY POINTS:
- Involve the effectiveness of the whole team
- Players movement
- Quality and technique of pass, cross, shot
- Communication
