Part I

Organization

- 8 Players (4 Attackers, 3 Defenders & 1 Goalkeeper)

- Use of half field set up as shown

- 40 x 30 area set up as shown

- 2 Mini Goals set up as shown

- 1 ball (additional on outside)

Activity - PART I

- Attacking players (red) attempt to circulate posession & score into the mini goals

- Attackers can shoot into the mini goals at any time

- If Attackers manage to get ball to (A) he/she is free to turn & move towards goal to score

- Defenders aim to work together, deny attackers scoring into mini goals & penertrating to goal

- When Defenders win the ball they must dribble/pass the ball through target gates (yellow)

- If ball goes out of play, is lost or Defenders score through gate play is quickly restarted

Coaching Points

- Focus: concentration on the ball & its movement

- Awareness: be aware of opposition players, the ball & your team mates

- Positioning: keep unit shape & balance. Deny space & passing lines. Always between the ball & goal!

- Anticipation: be alive, aware & ready to intercept/block passes

Part II

Activity - PART II

- Attacking players (Red) are now able to score in 'big goal' as well as mini goal

- When opportunity arises Attackers can play pass into wide areas (see diagram)

- Red cones act as imaginary offside line

- Once ball is played into wide areas Defenders must drop back & defend the cross

- Attackers aim to score (1 touch only) whilst Defenders aim to clear the ball (2 Att vs 3 Def)

- If ball is lost, goes out of play, cleared or goal is scored play is restarted inside coned area

- Defenders must transition quickly!

Coaching Points

- Focus: concentration on the ball & its movement

- Awareness: be aware of opposition players, the ball & your team mates

- Positioning: keep unit shape & balance. Deny space & passing lines. Always between the ball & goal!

- Anticipation: be alive, aware & ready to intercept/block passes

- Transition: quick reaction & adjustment to defend cross

- Body Shape: when defending cross keep open body; able to clear the ball & keep eye on attackers!

Part III

- 10 Players (4 Attackers, 5 Defenders & 1 Goalkeeper)

- Use of half field set up as shown

- Imaginary offside line set up as shown (red)

- 2 Target Gates (Yellow) set up as shown

- 1 ball (additional on outside)

Activity

- As per previous parts Attackers (Red) aim to build/circulate possession & score in the goal

- Defenders aim to win possession and pass/dribble ball through target gates (yellow)

- Attackers line up with three forwards. Defenders line up with three defenders & two central midfielders

- Game Like. Players free to move around the field. If ball leaves play restart from center circle (A)

- Attacker (A) must stay within area of center circle

- If ball goes out of play, Defenders score in target gates or goal is scored play restarts with (A)

- If goalkeeper wins possession, Defenders look to play out from the back

Coaching Points
