Coach plays the ball into the player's feet with their back to goal. They should take a directional first touch towards goal (turn) and take an immediate shot. 2 touch limit. Touch and then shot.
Players rotate from shooting line for right foot and shooting line for left foot.
In this progression, the coach plays the ball into the opposite line of the shooting line. The coach will play the ball to 2 and 2 will lay it off into 1's path, who is checking to for a shot inside of the box. The line laying the ball off should attempt to put the ball near the PK spot.
The coach will play the ball to 1 first next time and 2 will check to and look to take a shot at the PK spot with their left foot.
Players should rotate lines to take shots with both feet.
In this progression a defender is added.
The coach plays the ball into 2's feet, and 2 plays a square ball to 1, who is still outside of the 18. 1 will dribble to engage the defender towards the far post and 2 will overlap to give 1 an option to pass if the defense closes him down.
If the defender does not close the attacker down, he should shoot immediately, if he does take the shot away, he should pass to the overlapping runner for a shot.
Run the drill from the opposite direction each time.
