Different variations of playing out from the back from GK, CB and CDM.

4-3-3

transition image

Initial set up of 4-3-3 with ball central with GK

GK waits and gives time for team to organise

Cbs split wide of 18 yard box (if pressed drop deeper, bring more pressure from opposition = more space further foward)

FBs are online with 3rd line CMs

CDM drops into space created by CB split (receiving foot dictates next movemant of the team)

CMs stay in 3rd line and anticipate angles from CB and CDM

Wingers are as high as possible on last night line, providing depth

Striker is central and high, providing depth = room for rest of team to exploit.

Ball to CBs

transition image

Set up becomes 3-4-3 from GK

Ball passed by roll or kick to CB (allows control to be easier)

Rotation of Winger/Full back and Centre mid to create options (Trigger is CM movemant)

Opposite side CM offers support in channel

Opposite winger stays wide providing width

GK provides support on ball side with open body position

Ball to CDM

transition image

Ball played to CDM who is on half turn

(if pressured, play back to GK and start again or move away and allow another CM to occupy CDM)

Depending which foot/body angle (disguise from CM) or direction ball is received upon, dictates moevemant of the team. Same rotation as with CB however trigger is now the turn of CDM not CM movement.

Other CM stays away giving space for those creating space

Opposite winger stays wide providing width

GK provides support on ball side with open body position

CDM (2)

transition image

CDM turns, plays into CM if pressured can lay off to RCB who plays into winger who either sets for CB to play to overlaping full back or turns with ball to drive at defense (dependent on winger checking shoulder.

If movemant does not occur an no options (no movement from CM to create) then start again from CB if pressured go back to GK and organise.

CDM between FB an CB

transition image

CDM now drops between FB an CB drawing opposition CM out creating space for CM to occupy further forward.

As ball is played to 2 CM on 3rd line, highest CM moves into free space, turns and drives.

2 x CM drop in

transition image

This occured during Bayern vs Manchester City. The aims seemed to be to draw more CM of the 451 of Mcity further up field to exploit their vacant spaces, however M city remained disciplined.

Central pivot man was Gotze. All players provide supporting angle for CAM.

2 of CMs drop

CB go wide

FB High

Wingers come inside

CAM stays central
