The server starts very close to the goalkeeper and throws the ball randomly to the top left or right above the goalkeepers head for the goalkeeper to push away. This can be moved downwards for a high diving save, or low diving save.
For advanced goalkeepers all 4 (left right up down) can be used to really test your goalkeepers reactions.
The goalkeeper must leave the goal and head onto the line between the cones. Once at this line the server will try to pass the ball past the goalkeeper.
The goalkeeper needs to stay low at all times. This allows the low reaction save rather than a full movement.
This can be progressed so the goalkeeper starts on one of the cones facing out before turning in.
The ball can be bounced into the goal
The ball can be kicked in the air for the save
The goalkeeper and server pass the ball while sidestepping and moving backwards. At some point the server will drop their ball rather than throwing it back. When this happens the goalkeeper must pounce on the ball.
When server 1 passes the ball to server 2 the practice starts. Server 1& 2 should be far enough out that the pass cannot be intercepted but is still close enough to produce a reaction save.
Server 1 passes the ball to server 2. As this pass is made the goalkeeper needs to turn and get into line for a first touch shot from 2.
All three servers have footballs and fake throwing their ball.
The coach (stood behind the goalkeeper so the GK cant see him) holds up a number relating to which server is being used.
1 and 2 pass the ball between each other, at some point the coach (1) will either place pass to the side for (2) to chase down and stop going between the gates to the side, or place a firm pass that (2) will leave for (3) to react to.
