WARM UP: 5 MINS
SET UP
Approx 5 players per grid.
Grid is approx 10-15 yards square.
Start with 1 ball, progress to 2 balls.
ACTION
Player 1 dribbles w/ outside foot to player 2 and dribbles across front of player 2 in front of them.
Player 1 then 'lays off' the ball w/ sole of foot (stop ball dead) and player 2 repeats action to player 3.
Change direction so players use other foot.
COACHING POINTS
Players should take a touch to every step. Step, touch, step, touch, step, touch etc.
Encourage players to lift their head every once in a while. Shouldn't just dribble w/ head down.
Make sure players are dribbling with their outside foot - the foot furthest from the grid.
Quick touches on the ball and high energy.
Good timing of the lay off.
Next player starts QUICKLY after the lay off.

Player 1 dribbles w/ outside foot and passes to player 2 shortly after the blue cone.
Player 1 continues with movement towards player 2 to apply 'passive pressure'.
Player 2 touches the ball across the front of oncoming player 1 and moves around them the other way.
Player 2 repeats action to player 3.
Change direction so players use other foot.
COACHING POINTS
Players should take a touch to every step. Step, touch, step, touch, step, touch etc.
Encourage players to lift their head every once in a while. Shouldn't just dribble w/ head down.
Player on ball should look up before they make the pass.
Make sure players are dribbling with their outside foot - the foot furthest from the grid.

STAGE 1: 10 MINS

Length between players is approx 20-25 yards.
1 ball per line.
ACTION
Player 1 dribbles w/ outside foot and passes to player 2 diagonally through the end gate.
Player 1 joins the other group.
Player 2 touches the ball forward and repeats action the other way.
Change direction so players use other foot.
COACHING POINTS
Players should take more steps between bigger touches to gain speed.
Encourage players to lift their head every once in a while. Shouldn't just dribble w/ head down.
Player on ball should look up before they make the pass.
Make sure players are dribbling with their outside foot - the foot furthest from the line.
High tempo.
Correctly weighted pass, diagonally through gate slightly infront or to players feet. NOT behind them!!
Receiving player lean into incoming ball and a positive first touch out from under their feet.
STAGE 2: 15 MINS
SET UP
Approx 7-9 players per group.
Length between players is approx 20-25 yards.
1 ball per line.
ACTION
Player 1 dribbles w/ outside foot and passes to player 2 diagonally through the end gate.
Player 2 touches the ball forward and repeats action the other way.
Player 1 immediately pressures player 2 from behind after the pass.
Player 2 passes to player 3 and repeats with pressure.
After pressure, players will return to their original groups.
Change direction so players use other foot.

GAME STAGE: 15 MINS
SET UP
2 teams of approx 6 players.
Grid is approx 30x20 yards large.
1v1 then 2v2 then 3v3.
ACTION
1v1 GAME
BLUE player 1 dribbles into opposing end line and shoots.
Immediately after entering the shooting zone, RED player 1 dribbles to the other end.
BLUE player 2 dribbles towards other end as soon as RED player 1 shoots.
2v2 GAME
Same game, but shooter must touch the goal before helping to defend.
3v3 GAME
Same game, but shooter must touch the goal before helping to defend.
COACHING POINTS

Next player starts QUICKLY after the opponent's shot.
If defender catches up use fakes, feints and moves to evade them.
Attacking option to cut across defender to draw a foul or force them to slow down or stop.
