Organization:
1. 30 x 30 yard area set up as shown
2. 12 players (6 Attackers, 6 Defenders) set up as shown
3. 1 ball per group
Instructions:
1. Attacking players dribble from the top of the area to the bottom
2. The defending player moves sideways on defensive position as they move back, but do not attempt to win the ball
3. The defending player must always stay ahead of the ball
4. The defending player must change their body shape as the attacking player moves the ball
5. Once the players reach the bottom of the area they switch roles and repeat in the opposite direction
Coaching Points:
1. Attack the front foot of the defending player
2. Use fakes and feints in order to make the defender switch their stance
3. Go at speed once the body is warmed up and ready to play
Progression:
1. P – Attacking player now looks to get in behind the defending player at speed
2. P – Defending player can now tackle for the ball
3. R – Take away the defending player
4. R – Increase the width and length to 40 x 40 to provide players more space to m ove into
Organization:
1. Open area set up as shown
2. Cones set up in triangles in a 5 x 5 x 5 yard area, set up as shown
3. 3 players (set up as shown)
4. 1 ball
Instructions:
1. Two players play 1v1 inside the grid, player A and B
2. They have one min to score in one of the gates, players score by dribbling through a gate
3. Players cannot score in their own gate
4. Once a player has scored, the Player C steps onto the field with the ball beginning the next game
5. Players will continue rotation and play for an alotted amount of time

1. Attacker attacks at speed
2. When defending player is tight, shield and protect the ball
Progressions:
1. P - Allow active players to use inactive player
2. R - Make playing area bigger
Organization:
1. 40 x 40 yard area set up as shown
2. 12 players (6 Attackers, 6 Defenders) set up as shown
3. Lots of balls by defending players starting position
Instructions:
1. The game starts with one of the defending players making a diagonal pass to one of the attacking players
2. The attacker must attempt to beat the defender out of the square and shoot on the goal behind them
3. The defending players must attempt to stop them leaving the square over there end or side line
4. Once the attacker is out of the square the defender is beat and cannot recover
5. The game restarts with the next players
6. After each attempt each player returns to their starting position
7. Rotate attackers and defenders after a set time interval
Coaching Points:
1. Positive first touch to attack the defender at speed
2. Timing and execution of fakes and feints
3. Accelerate to beat the defender
4. Cut into space behind defending player once beaten – ‘Close the door’
Progression:
1. P – Allow defending players to recover so that they can now tackle outside of the square
2. P – Play 1v2 to goal so that the defending player has cover
3. R – Allow the attackers to start with the ball
Organization:
1. 40 x 25 yard area set up as shown
2. 6 players (2 Teams of 3) set up as shown
3. 1 ball (Additional around the outside)
Instructions:
1. The game starts with a pass from the last defender
2. Attackers can only penetrate into their opponent’s half of the field through the gates
3. Defending players can only tackle in their half of the field
4. Once in their opponent’s half players can shoot or combine to shoot
5. Goals can only be scored from your opponent’s half
6. If the defending team wins possession they attempt to do the same in the opposite goal
7. If the ball leaves the area or the attacking team enter the attacking half through the middle of the field, the game is restarted with the opposition’s last defender
Coaching Points:
1. Observe the body position of the defender
2. If side on attack the front foot
3. If square push the ball past and accelerate
4. Timing and execution of fake and feints
5. Cut into space behind defending player once beaten
6. Play at speed
Progression:
1. P – Defending player now attempts to w in the ball
2. R – Reduce the speed of the pressing defender to a walk
