Organization:

Groups of 4 to 6

Cones arranged in "Y" shape activity

Instructions:

Middle player checks to one side to receive on back foot

Far player checks to opposite side of middle player to create triangle shape

Middle player plays to far players far foot, who dribbles back to beginning

Players rotate up to next role

Coaching Points:

Check shoulder as ball is travelling

Open body shape when recieving, and head up to observe next action

Play off opposite foot to the one received on, for maximum speed of play

Progressions:

Middle player can chose to support far player after passing for a wall pass, or check away into space.

Organization:

Players in groups of 4 or 5

10 x 20 area

Instructions:

A plays B, who has checked out of central area.

1) C allows ball to be received on far foot, and allows B to touch inside

B plays to D who dribbles to start point, and all players rotate

2) C now comes tight, to force B to receive inside on front foot. When B comes inside, B drops close passing lane again, forcing C to turn back using appropriate turn.

Coaching Points:

Adjustment of D's position as a function of B's movement.

Protecting ball by turning away from the defender if he is tight.

Keeping head up to observe target, and facing forward if defender is loose

Progressions:

B and D combine for a wall pass after hitting target.

Organization:

 10 x 20, split into two 10 x 10 grids

1 v 1 plus 1 in each half

Pugg goals at each end

Instructions:

Players play 1 v 1 + 1 in each half, and play to goal.

Coaching Points:

Coordination of movement in attacking half to create triangles, and keep passing lanes open.

High starting position, and timing and quality of check (no pressure on ball, eye contact, etc)

Playing forward early, and with most direct pass possible.

Progressions:

Plus one is restricted to two touches in attacking half, and must play on the end line.

2 minute games, or first to score twice

Team coming on triggers game by retrieving ball from their own goal
