Warm-up

Strike the ball back and forth between players. Lots or repetition.

Coaching points: Start side on to the ball. Lock the ankle, toe pointed down, strike through the ball. Plant foot pointed to the target. Land on the striking foot.

Main Activity

First pass to player on the cone, second pass back to the player on the endline, third is a strike/shot to the opposite endline. Repeat.

Organization:

Full size goal (if available)

2 pugg goals

10 soccer balls

Distance of balls determined by age of player

7 to 9 - 12 yards

10 to 12 - 16 yards

13+ - 20 yards

Coach in position to count

Instructions:

- Player starts at orange cone

- Player takes a shot on goal with outside ball

- Return to orange cone before shooting on opposite side

- Repeat process until all balls are hit or 30 seconds elapses

Scoring

- Player hits pugg goal 3 points

- Player hits between pugg and cone 2 points

- Player hits between cones 1 point

- Each scoring zone is from the goal line up to the crossbar

Conditioned Game

Organization: 40x30, line of cones 10 yds from each goal line. 2 or 3 mini goals OR big goals on each endline.

Instructions: Normal play, must shoot before the cone line. Defenders cannot go into the "box".

Coaching Points: Striking early and often. Getting your head up to see where the open space/goal is. Clearing your feet to get a good strike through the ball.
